HEMP and Association News!

It's been a fabulous year for Hemp in California! The 1st official sanctioned Hemp plot was planted and harvested in Yolo County. The California Industrial Hemp Advisory Board was formed, and has met twice. Were getting closer!

The CHA has been working with local farmers and other stakeholders for the past 9 months. We are happy to announce that the Ventura County's Board of Supervisors voted 5-0, to allow the growing of Industrial Hemp in the unincorporated areas of the county. More permitting and other issues remain, but are being worked through. We expect to be able to plant research plots in the Spring of 2018.

The 1st Hemp plot was planted this day in Yolo County, under the Ag. Comm's Office. The seed was supplied by the California Hemp Foundation (sister organization to the CHA) through a donation by a Hemp supporter.
The 1st group call of industry movers and shakers, went better than hoped for, as we all came together to discuss the needs of growing this new California industry. Despite a tech glitch that had us split into 2 groups, we made good use of the time to better get to know each other’s ideas.

We agreed to have regular weekly on-line meetings and off-line meetings as required. Next on-line meeting set for Thursday Dec. 15, 2016 - 10 am PST.

The first meeting of interested parties was held on-line via a GoTo Meeting conference call. If you’d like to be added to future calls, please send us an email through this site. Include your full name and contact information and your particular interest in becoming a part of this working group.
